The first round entry deadline for the MPA Wedding & Portrait Awards 2011 sponsored by Fujifilm is approaching rapidly – it’s May 3rd, the first working day after our ‘endless holiday’ Easter, Royal Wedding and Mayday break.
F
or over two decades na- tional Wedding & Portrait Awards have introduced the public to professional photog- raphers right across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Originally named the' Kodak Wedding & Portrait Awards' and more recently sponsored by Fujifilm, they are administered by the Master Photographers Associa- tion – the UK's premier trade body for professional photog- raphers.
There is no cost to the con- sumer to enter and the pho- tographer makes a £1 donation with each photograph entered (£2 overall entry fee) to the very worthy PACE charity for disabled children.
The winning wedding cus- tomer receives a £1,000 cash prize and the photographer gains the title 'MPA/Fujifilm Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011'. There is also £1,000 cash prize for the winner of the Portrait category and a similar title.
There are 20 runners up prizes of £50 shopping vouchers and there are two rounds during the year. Entry deadline for the first round is 3rd May and the second is 30th August 2011. Any professional photogra- pher may enter the Awards on your behalf. All they need to do is download the entry forms from this website and abide by the terms and conditions. Enter your images for the

There are five finalists from each of the two categories, Weddings and Portraits.

The overall winning consumers both win £1000.
The overall winning photographers receive the title of MPA/Fujifilm Wedding or Portrait Photographer of the Year 2011 and trophy.
Presentations will take place at the Master Photography Awards at the Hilton Hotel Newcastle on Sunday 9 October 2011.
The judging by an independent panel, comprising expert judges, will be held in May and final judging in September 2011.
