products, Lucy said the scheme was so well-supported she’s now added an ice-cream fridge to the bar, Good-To- Go take-away coffee and hot food, as well as free wi-fi. “The shop is really driving business at the pub, which is just what I wanted,” she said. “We get cyclists and walkers popping in for take-away food and Mackie’s mini ice-cream tubs, which really are a best seller. At weekends, customers come to buy a Sunday paper and stay for a bacon roll.

Woodward said scheme is helping lessees.

“It’s a tough time for pubs but Bar Boosters can really help to bring in customers. It is perfect for helping you widen your horizons and do other things.” Woodward said lessees can reap

the rewards by making a few small changes to their business. “Anything we can do to help our lessees generate more profit without involving big start-up costs or a lot of additional work on their behalf can only be a good thing,” he added.
