DO THE ZUMBA WITH NANA ON NEW TV FITNESS SHOW

A

mum from Abbots Langley is making a name for herself as a television fitness guru. Nana Akua, 39, has just secured her first

series on Sky channel Fitness TV. The show is called Fit Gear and discusses what‘s hot and what‘s not in the world of fitness. One thing that‘s certainly scorching at the

moment is the dance exercise craze Zumba. Nana, who has started running Zumba classes in the area, said: ―Zumba is incredibly popular at the moment. It‘s dance moves set to a mix of great styles of music including Salsa, Calypso, Reggaeton and Meringue. ―It is a fantastic way of keeping fit without

even realising it. It‘s such fun and anyone can do it as it‘s simple. ―You are guaranteed to sweat like crazy and

come out of the class feeling really good. I got into it after giving birth to my daughter two years ago. ―I noticed it helped to reduce my waistline

mainly because it works your core muscles and there‘s a lot of rotating movements. It‘s also good when you are out on the dance floor in a club.‖ Nana‘s hoping her debut TV show will lead to

bigger things. She said: ―I decided a while back that my aim was to get on TV and promote health and fitness. ―I put a plan together, started putting it into

action and it‘s starting to happen for me. ―I have set myself a goal of having my own slot

on a bigger channel by the end of this year. ―I have been into fitness all my life whether it

was doing athletics, gymnastics or going to the gym. ―I‘m passionate about health and fitness

because if you make the effort to look after yourself you‘ll get the most out of life.‖
