MY FAVORITE FOUR:
TOM FORD Taking the nerd trend to the stratosphere, these Tom Ford glasses are gorgeous. The tortoise is retro cool and Tom’s distinctive “T” lets everyone know they’re by Mr. Ford. Clear lens are a huge trend for day and night. Or pop in a subtle brown lens.
HACKETT LONDON Hackett London is a Brit menswear company that is oh-so- posh. Think Burberry without the annoying plaids. These glasses have a retro feel and a distinctive square eye shape.
SUNGLASSES! SUMMER ‘11 MUST HAVE:
hile shooting a fashion layout for Rage, a very wise man (Dan Deutsch of Dan Deutsch Optical Outlook) said to me “eyewear helps define who you are.” He told me this as he handed me a pair of vintage pink sunglasses worn by Elton John during his concert tour in the ‘70s. Now admittedly, not everyone can pull off pink, but what I learned that day from Dan stands true: Sunglasses are jewelry for the face, and just like you change a necklace or a watch, one should also change up eyewear.
Finding the right pair is easy. The frame shape should contrast with the shape of the face. Round faces should
stay away from anything too round. Look for angular or rectangular styles. If you have a square face or a strong chin, you should be looking for styles that will give the face some definition like aviators with a rounded bottom. I recommend spending an hour or two at your favorite sunglass store. Try on several different frames. And
colors! This is a chance to show your personality so venture out from black! And always have your salesperson adjust the frames. Fit is everything.

MYKITA You can never go wrong with aviators. Almost any face can carry this classic style. Here’s one for the girls and the boys. Mykita teamed up with Uslu Airlines (a super cool cosmetics company) to match aviators with nail polish! Check the ultra- chic packaging!
GUCCI
These Gucci Round Logo sunglasses kill me! They are so 1976-Studio 54-chic. I love the arm with the Gucci in script and the subtle gradation of the lens.’
Glasses are having a retro moment. It’s all ‘50s Mad Men or ‘70s
Charlie’s Angels. So grab a pair of these retro-inspired beauties to feel oh-so-modern. All frames available at Dan Deutsch Optical Outlook and Neiman Marcus. Tom Ford and Gucci Logo frames at UnOptical, 1010 University Avenue.
