PEND A LEISURELY DAY strolling the Millville’s Glasstown’s Arts District, a collection of shops,
restaurants and galleries along High Street in the center of town. Just a thought but Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are the best when businesses are open, people are out and about and it’s a happening place! Plenty of convenient parking gets every visit off to a great start. Stop at the Riverfront Renaissance Cen-
ter for the Arts with its three galleries, changing exhibitions and gift shop that offers fine art prints, handcrafted jewelry, glass and ceramic arts, textiles and more! Next door is Amanda’s filled with great fashions and Vera Bradley accessories. A few doors away watch students at the
Clay College create beautiful pieces of pot- tery. The windows of the Glasstown Art Glass Studio have a brilliant display of orig- inal glass art pieces – then step inside to see the artist/owner actually blowing and creat- ing vases, bowls, ornaments, lamps and any- thing else you can imagine! Rusty Heart is next door with an assortment of accessories; cross the street and visit Liz Ryan Gem- stones and have fun picking out your favorite penny candy at Incredible Bulk. Hungry? Enjoy a leisurely lunch at
Tokyo, Jim’s Lunch, Dori’s Italian, Classic Café Bistro or the Old Oar House Irish Pub. If it’s dinner time, don’t miss Win- field’s Restaurant! Stop by J.B. and M.E. Gallery, the
Artists Consortium, J.R.’s Strange Design or the Lotus Trading Company – all with a wide variety of original art work and trea- sures. Indulge yourself or pick out some- thing unique for that someone special. Bogart’s Books and Coffee is in the next
block – enjoy a beverage at the coffee bar while checking out the new or gently used books – most visitors get hooked and come back often. Then there’s the Guilty Plea- sures Fashion Shop for the latest styles and great accessories. Need a quick bite? the High Street Buffet, spicy chicken wings and more at BJ Roasters, NY Pizza, or ‘crazy hot dog’ at Jamol’s! Pick up some lovely live flowers or a silk creation at Colonial Flowers and then visit Steelman’s for a souvenir and some ideas for framing the piece of art you just bought.

Love browsing for bargains? You might
find them at the Refrigerator Door, home to several dealers. New Revelation Records carries vintage vinyl records and CDs and Kit N Bob’s Bike Shop has sports equip- ment and collectibles. Indulge in a burger and milk shake at Billy D’s or a great dessert at Apron Strings. The Village on High is a little shopping
conclave of 12 cottages and home to Tawes Art Studio (our first Pioneer Artist) and filled with art, gourmet chocolates, ladies accessories, craft supplies, vintage shops, soy candles and a lovely flower garden that encourages visitors to sit a spell. LaBottega of Art, one of the oldest galleries in town, represents 22 area artists and next door is the Wheaton Mansion where special tours are offered periodically. There are also several working artists’
studios throughout the six blocks and along secondary streets including the Green Boots Gallery on 2nd Street – open by chance or appointment! – and the Fithian
House on Pine St. From mid-May through October, Mau-
rice River Cruises has two sailings on Friday and three on Saturday along one of the nation’s “wild and scenic rivers.” The river boat is docked one block behind High Street and the municipal building; call 856- 327-1530 for information. Or, enjoy the Maurice River strolling along the Riverwalk that begins in the Arts District, crosses over the bridge into another park and continues along a nature trail for another mile, home to the largest population of bald eagles and osprey in New Jersey!■ Make sure you put the Third Friday of each month on your calendar to visit from 6 to 9 PM – and much later at many locations.
