Hudson - Litchfield News 12 - April 1, 2011

“Thumbs up to Mr. Bastien, Mrs. Beaton and the wonderful students in the AHS Music Department. Cabaret-Viva Las Vegas was fabulous! We are fortunate to have such talent in Hudson. Who needs to go to Boston when we have such great entertainment here!”

“Thumbs up to the Litchfield Chorus and Band for their amazing performance last week ... A’s across the board!!! Way too go!!!”

“Thumbs down to my so easily influenced and quick to convict Fox Hollow neighbors. I am both saddened and disgusted by the Board’s decision to circulate pictures of a woman that happens to be married to a board member. Although there have been questions regarding board members receiving special favors for years, these pictures show no proof of that! I saw a picture of a woman speaking to a contractor and pictures of a contractor doing his work with fabricated captions written underneath. No different than a trashy tabloid magazine. What I have seen with my very own eyes is that same woman out in the snow shoveling her steps, parking spot and dog walking area numerous times. However there are conveniently no pictures of that. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for acting so un- American towards your neighbors.”

“Thumbs up. Happy 3rd Birthday to our little BMW / H20BUG your growing so much, so fast. Great job on going to preschool. We know it maybe scary for you, but is also scary for us. Keep up the good work we love you, XOXO Love Mommy and Daddy”

“Thumbs up to the Carrie-Ann, Michelle D,

Wenda S, Carol S. Ruth C, Mrs. Finnegan, Diane W, Diane B, Nancy B, Brenda L, Robert P, Mary P, Meagan M. Lisa B, Lynne C, Barbara T, LMS PTO, Chloe C & Riley C who volunteered their time to make the fifth grade ‘Minute To Win It’ night at LMS such a blast for our kids! Volunteers like yourself make all the difference!!”

“Thumbs down to Laura Bison’s comment that she can predict in children when they are in 3rd grade that they can become high school dropouts later on in life. That is a ridiculous

Musquash Road. Recently I saw a run-over beaver in the middle of the road, and it was disgusting and cruel! I don’t think anyone could miss a huge beaver day or night. People should be more careful when driving on that road!!!”

“Thumbs down to the organizers of this year’s cabaret. Aside from being the longest in a series of progressively longer cabarets, this show was overtly sexually suggestive. Right away, as soon as tickets were taken, volunteers handed everyone business card sized cards that read ‘For a good time, visit www.ahsmusic.org.’ That’s a good message to send to Hudson’s 14 - 18 year old students, huh? The mock Elvis made pelvic thrusting motions at the audience, and to top it off, there was an act fully devoted to three male students (one a freshman) performing a Chippendale’s striptease. An interesting turn in the history of Hudson’s cabarets. I’m interested to know if the overly sexually suggestive theme will carry over into next year’s cabaret, but I won’t be there. I refuse to go. But ‘thumbs up’ to the hardworking students.”

“Thumbs up to Cindy Couture for her many years of service to the town. Thumbs down to attacking her by name while hiding behind an anonymous column. Talk about a lack of class.”

“Thumbs up to Carrie-Ann

statement!” “Thumbs down to people who own and work

in convenience stores and park right in front of the entrance all through their shift. That goes for people who have a HP plate and park all day in the only HP spot for eight hours. Consider having another employee park your car away from the building so other people can use it.”

“Thumbs down. Beware Fox Hollow residents... although the March newsletter states that the director involved in the recent controversy has been asked to resign from the board he is the puppet master who is known to manipulate and retaliate. Who provides the

could not have pulled this off without YOU!!! I promise not to drive you crazy with anymore emails! The kids had a blast! Thank YOU -B.”

“Thumbs down to union busting. Would society be ‘best if we were regressed to a cave- man state where people would have to work as hard as possible for as little as possible?’… Happy High Holy Days To Mr. Ulery!”

“Thumbs up to the NH House Budget writers for producing a balanced budget without raising taxes or fees and not borrowing, nor using smoke and mirrors and with realistic revenue estimates. That was the mandate.”

week!! It would be so nice if people acted responsibly and respectable and didn’t use that word (especially in the ‘thumbs up/down’ column). So sorry about your mailbox I’m sure it was tragic for you and that’s why you felt the need to use the ‘R’ word in here insinuating that people with disabilities damage things and are not respectful. Next time try to be respectful of those of us who have children with disabilities, they are not little monsters put in this world to destroy your mailbox. Oh and by the way my child will not ever be able to drive because of the disability. Again I am truly sorry for your mailbox loss!”

“Thumbs up to Flowers on the Hill and Wilson Farm for supporting the Litchfield Area Garden Club - Thank you so much!”

“Thumbs up to the final kiss at the CHS fashion show, it was a great finish to a great night!”

“Thumbs up to Mrs. DePloey at Griffin for helping both my son and I with the transition of going to preschool. As a first time Mom you are able to advise me on what to expect,

and that what is happening is common. Being so comfortable with you I know he is in good hands when I leave him. I am so grateful you are my son’s ‘1st teacher’ One that I personally will always remember.”

“Thumbs up to Matt Sullivan for finally getting a job! Yeah buddy! WWAWKD!”

“Thumbs down to board of selectman for thinking they know and understand employee labor law. Again we citizens pay for their anti- employee beliefs.”

“Thumbs down to this paper and its poor adherence to the First Amendment. I attempted to write a ‘thumbs down’ in regards to a certain male music teacher at Alvirne High School last week, but apparently he’s untouchable, as this paper refuses to print the comment, though

was guilty. It should really be brought out in the paper that he was innocent and falsely accused.”

“Thumbs down to the stop smoking patches and pills. My three daughters decided to quit smoking together using these methods. After one week on a patch it came off because one said her head felt ‘funny.’ Within an hour after removal she went into periods of black- outs -- (no memory about what had gone on around her from day to day) -- that lasted about 3 weeks. Second daughter’s personality went from ‘our always bright and cheerful optimist’ to our ‘grouch of the year.’ Third daughter, ‘our social butterfly,’ just wanted to lay around the house spouting ‘leave me alone’ when asked to go anywhere. The patches and pills were flushed down the toilet and slowly, things are getting back to normal. So, beware. Ads say, ‘some may experience side affects.’ Three out of three tells us most people probably will. They are not to be taken lightly by anyone thinking ‘it

“Thumbs down to the lazy Moms and Dads of Hudson. Want easy way to find out if a child is being raised correctly? Ask the child how many chores he or she has. If the answer is none, the child has lazy parents and their future is bleak. Most children of lazy parents flunk out of school are unable to hold a job, and often havedifficulties in relationships. However, THERE IS HOPE! Regardless of the child’s age, all you need to do parents is assign these children responsibilities and hold them accountable. Yes they will complain and resist but be strong Moms and Dads, it’s their future you’re fighting for – you can do it!”

down, to my neighbor. Not sure if it’s house number 30 or 32 but if you keep riding that ridiculous loud four-wheeler I am calling the cops. Get a life and go into the woods, far away. We have kids that sleep and they can’t with your red-neck racket. I also will say I am sick of all the four-wheelers in Hudson on Wason Road. Where are the cops? No ATV’s allowed in Hudson, on the road that is, and they ride on the road.”

“Thumbs up to Officer Adam

Lischinsky of the Hudson Police Department and Rona Lischinsky, for donating their time to instruct an excellent women’s self defense course! Also thumbs up to all the officers from surrounding areas and personnel that volunteered to help on our last day. The course was outstanding and could save lives. I hope more young ladies and women take advantage of this empowering course. Thank you!!!”

“Thumbs down to the new selectmen. Why do you have such a vendetta against the current fire chief? Why is it you’re pushing so hard for the elected chief? Just because you have personal issues against him you should not be holding this town accountable. What will this town do when the petition article you and your posse pushed through comes to life. Do the citizens know how much a full time chief will cost? The board could not do their jobs and had to hire a useless town administrator what has changed. How do they plan on picking a
