ces for Rogation

Prayers Healing Father,

reach out to those farmers who are in difficulty and despair.

Give them courage, hope and wisdom. Raise up the right person to walk alongside them, to listen, to understand, to help and to advise. We pray too for those who give their time and expertise to support the farming community; support them and meet their needs that their reserves of wisdom and warmth may not run dry. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Father God,

we also pray for those who have been unable to continue farming,

as

who have sold family farms that their fathers built up.

Prosper them in their new lives. Help them to adjust to the loss of things that were dear

and to new circumstances which seem strange. Give them appreciation of very near neighbours; may they become very dear neighbours. Above all enable them to rise above any sense of personal failure;

e ure

give them a full appreciation of the valuable contribution they have made

to an industry which needs fewer and fewer producers

but still provides daily bread for the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Rogation Hymn

We sow the seed into the soil Oats, barley, corn and wheat To feed the livestock, make the bread And give us what we eat.

We sow the seed of intellect With words that stimulate Then, guided by their wisdom, may Consume, conserve, create.

We sow the seeds of faith and hope By prayer to God above

And draw upon this moment’s needs Eternal power and love.

But Christ the sower sowed himself; His life he freely gave To give us lasting nourishment And life beyond the grave.

Then praise to God who gives the seed, The body, mind and soul. And praise him that he gave his Son Who died to make us whole.

Tune: Brother James' Air and repeat the last two lines of each verse or use a Common Measure tune.
