Woke up this morning ..

from Raymond Bukenya Raymond Bukenya

Raymond keeps us up to date with great and inspiring prayer entries relating to his daily work as an evangelist and missionary in Iriiri supporting Samuel and the work of St John’s. I have included entries below to give you a flavour of the work he is involved in. If you are interested in finding out how to support Raymond in his stay in Iriiri do get in touch with me. MT

About two weeks ago:

PRAYER REQUEST: I woke up this morning about 07:45hrs... found a friend waiting for me outside the house, we had an appointment! Abraham... a drunkard,

smoker.... late twenties.. so messed, that people have discouraged me from bringing him close. He agrees to a bath, change of clothes, washes the old ones... and we sit for breakfast! We had a great time sharing about life and the need for c h a n g e a n d r e a l transformation. He's a school dropout who got messed by bad company but would be happy to go back to school (A'Levels)... currently has no where to stay and has a bad reputation in the community. He promised to change... AND WE PRAYED! Abraham is a BIG FISH... I want to catch him... PRAY FOR US.

so excited! Wanted to see Abraham and talk to him more... Couldn’t find him anywhere! It was a market day so I thought he may be trying to do some casual jobs in the centre. I went over looking everywhere, praying that God would just show him to me.... I felt a bit disappointed as my efforts ended in vain by the 1pm. I went back home read my Bible and prayed for him to be safe and fine. A few hours later, I meet him on my way back to the center! He's been sleeping all morning coz he's ill. chest pains, hardship in breathing, fever... all that stuff had put him down! We stroll home, but he's evidently weak. He had s o m e i m p r o p e r medication.... I talked to him about the possibility of a smoking effect so he needs to keep away from using these substances if he wants to recover. He promised. WE PRAYED AGAIN! He even shared more facts about his past l i fe. Guys . . we' re moving.... please don’t stop praying!

Left Iriiri ...

without informing my friend Abraham that I would be away for the w e e k e n d . . . INTENTIONALLY!, but it worked... before I reached Gulu, I received a beep from Lobong (a guy at home), and calling back he told me that Abraham was at home looking for me! He was sad for my not being around, but asked my phone number in order to contact me. What's amazing is that afterwards he went on to ask Lobong some questions:

"Is this Raymond guy really serious about helping me...?!" ... I haven't stopped missing him. But I feel so disturbed by the fact that I wasn't available for him when he took off time and thought to come .... possibly to talk more. HOWEVER, I greatly thank God for the fact that His Holy Spirit is at work in my brother's life already! PLIZ PRAY: that he will keep focused and not lose heart. And that he will have peace and that the Lord will person- ally assure him of the kind of chance he desires in his life. THRU JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVIOUR, Amen

About a week ago: guys .... guys.... guys...

GUESS WHAT! he called me this morning.... my brother ABRAHAM! he wanted to talk about his progress... he mentioned how amazed he is at how things are changing in his daily life... he's going for last injection, and in my absence, the nurse has asked him to stop smoking if any of the medication is to yield positive results! He asked: "could God be directly telling me to stop smoking by making me sick...?!" he's also going to church tomorrow and requested me to get him a Bible! He requested me not listen to what some people may be saying to me about his past life... He wants to BREAK AWAY AND CHANGE... oh Lord, my day can't get any better. .. I pray that you continue to have your way in my brother, Abraham's life... and bring him to the Knowledge of YOU, in Jesus' name. AMEN
