Summertime at MAC is filled with fun. ACTIVITY CAMPS
It’s not too late to make summer plans for children of all ages. MAC offers a variety of exciting camps for youngsters. Following are a few of this summer’s highlights.
CLUB INVENTION (ages 7 to 12) NEW CAMP This enrichment camp fosters
creativity, teamwork, inventive thinking and science literacy by providing children with hands-on, interactive activities. Campers participate in two inventive modules each day. In module The Wild Blue Y’Under, important documents must be delivered to the National Inventors Hall of Fame, and Y’Under, Inc. knows just who should deliver them. Campers design and build safe methods of transportation that take them around the world to protect the documents from spies. They explore physics concepts such as buoyancy, lift, propulsion and water pressure, then apply these concepts to invent futuristic methods of travel.
In module Fair Games, campers design and build new carnival games for a traveling carnival. They assemble new types of games that demonstrate equivalence, probability and estimation. For more information, call Member Services at 503-517-7265.
Monday, Aug. 8 through Thursday, Aug. 11 | 8:30 a.m.-noon $130; non-member guest fee $145 | ME242
BREMEN TOWN ROCK BAND THEATER (ages 7 to 11) Children learn the basics of theater through games and creative play with Northwest Children’s Theater. The Bremen Town animals have had it with life on the farm. They decide to join up and make it big in the music world. This adventurous “rock band” version makes campers’ rock star dreams come true. Friends and family are invited to an informal demonstration on the final day of class. For more information, call Member Services at 503-517-7265.
