——◆—––– Corey Beck took sec-
ond place, David Owens ended up third, and
Dominic Farrar finished sixth as the Pinkerton Academy wrestling team closed out its 2010-11 sea- son with a strong showing at the New England High
School Wrestling Champ- ionships in New Haven, Conn., last weekend. To absolutely nobody’s
surprise, the Timberlane Regional Owls from Plais-
tow snared the regional title by notching a score of 133, with Mount Anthony of Vermont second, Daniel Hand High of Connecticut third, Methuen (Mass.) High fourth with a 66.5, and Pinkerton fifth with a 62. Beck, Pinkerton’s 171- pound standout who was bested by Nick Lawrence of Timberlane in the champi- onship rounds at the Div- ision I title meet and at the Meet of Champions, lost to Lawrence once again in the championship round at the New Englands. But the final score was a very tight 3-2, with Beck putting forth an excellent battle. Owens finished third in the 140-pound class by best- ing Ryan Niven of Tyngs- boro, Mass., in a 5-1 deci- sion in the battle for third place.
Pinkerton senior wrestling standout Corey Beck put forth another strong battle against Timberlane champion Nick Lawrence in the 171-pound finals at the New England championships in Connecticut last weekend. Beck ended up second at the major tourney.
