Society of Light and Lighting The

brand new LG5: Lighting for Education, is now available from the Society of Light & Lighting. An essential guide for all of those in the specification of lighting in educational establishments – whether that’s at primary school or university level. Lighting plays a pivotal role in ensuring that spaces are designed to maximise the learning and the enjoyment of the students. Covering all application areas within education, LG5 also examines the visual relationship between teacher and student. It is widely recognised that the quality of light in the learning environment will directly affect our learning experience and indeed our motivation to learn, and LG5 will ensure that spaces are designed to maximise the learning and the enjoyment of the students, whether young or old. LG5 is available online at www.sll.org.uk. Price to SLL members £35. Non-members £70. www.sll.org.uk

LIF will be holding its Annual Lunch Event, combined with its formal AGM on 24 May 2011 at Draper's Hall, Throgmorton Avenue, London. This is the main event for members in the LIF year. It has been extremely well supported over the years with a high attendance at the lunch and the morning workshop, providing plenty of networking opportunities.

The structure of the day will be: • A morning workshop where external speakers will address topical issues of interest to LIF members.

• The LIF AGM at 12 noon (formal papers will be issued nearer the time). • A reception for guests from 12.15 followed by lunch, during which a keynote speaker will address a major issue relevant to the industry.

Members are encouraged to invite guests and staff who are interested in the ongoing development of the industry and the work of LIF in supporting that. To book a table (8 or 10 places) or some places at this year’s Annual Luncheon please visit www.lif.co.uk. The morning seminar session can be booked on the same form.
