A surprise unveiling at the show, the Renault R-Space is a concept that shows the direction in which the next Espace will be heading, design-wise. Another pure concept, it highlights the different demands of the front (adult) section of the car and the child-oriented rear, with the help of 27 miniature motors powering an array of height-adjustable hexahedron-shaped blocks that allow four settings to be programmed, from an all-flat surface, to a booster seat, a table or a random configuration (when the vehicle is parked) for children’s games. Obviously, these won’t make the final production car – they hardly improve the safety of the rear passengers – but they are a clever way to show how Renault’s designers are thinking about designing cabins that address the needs of all their occupants. from fans of the classic camper van for a new van, so it was a pleasant surprise when it unveiled its Combi concept at the show. A
