set on your way home. Examiners are looking for a well-planned
drive with no harsh acceleration or late braking. Fuel-efficient driving is also taken into consideration into the tests. Candidates will be expected to make the best use of gears at all times to help fuel economy. This does not necessarily mean driving everywhere in fifth gear: it should be the highest gear possible to keep the car under control without allowing the engine to labour. This could also mean switching off your engine for longer than average stops, for example, while waiting at temporary traffic lights at road works. The candidate is responsible for providing
the car; it could be your own car or the one you may have used for your training, which makes the most sense. When you arrive for your test, please park in a forward-facing bay. This makes it easier to start your journey and looks more professional. It is important that the interior of your vehicle is free from clutter and nothing is left unsecured on the back seat or parcel shelf that may cause harm or injury in the event of a sudden stop. Above all, leave adequate time for your journey before your test. Try to arrive about 10-15 minutes before your start time to collect your thoughts. Most test starting points have toilet facilities and somewhere to buy refreshments. With enough preparation, you may even
find you enjoy the experience! Please feel free to contact us at
