BALLOON Fri 29 Apr, Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff Tickets: £6.50. Info: 029 2023 2199 / www.clwb.net Over the last couple of years, Balloon has become well known and regarded in Cardiff as a combined music and literature night. Once again, it returns with attitude and most notably... with volume. Headliners Kong, described by Radio One’s Dan Carter as “one of the best live bands in the UK right now,” are humorous mask-wearing punks who themselves liken their sound to a room of dogs and balloons. Support acts include Mancunian author Chris Killen who wrote the dark, disturbing yet funny novel The Birdroom; Byron Vincent, a poet of wry observations and creative swearing, and Brandyman, a lauded and angular Cardiff rock band playing their fi nal gig tonight. Expect enough noise and narrative to blow you out of the venue.
