beauty Happy Feet
Looked at your feet lately? It’s only a matter of time before the fl ip-fl ops emerge once again, so it’s important to ensure your tootsies look and feel their very best. Here are my fi ndings for fabulous-looking feet.
Pedicures are going to be fun and fi erce this summer. Hot and garish acid colours in orange, yellow, pink and purple will be all the rage (Esse have an amazing colour palette of vivid violets and pinks).
One of the latest trends to have gained popularity is crackle nail art. This technique uses a special shattering nail polish that gives an amazing crackled/shattered/marble effect.
MINX, which is made of fl exible fi lm applied to the nail through heat and pressure, will once again feature on the best dressed toes this summer. Because it’s a fi lm and not a polish, it is available in a wide range of metallics and designs. MINX usually lasts approximately four to eight days on the fi ngers and up to four weeks on the toes. I’ve seen some great results and also some poor ones. As always, this is due to the practical ability of the nail technician applying the product.
My favourite product for dry, cracked heels is shea butter. Retrieved from the fruit of the
African shea tree, shea butter’s natural benefi ts protect and moisturise. Recognised for its nourishing powers, shea butter accelerates cellular renewal, helping to soften, soothe and comfort skin (L’Occitane does a gorgeous shea butter balm).
If your feet are looking a little worse for wear and you’re not quite sure where to start, I would defi nitely recommend a professional pedicure. Look for salons that offer more advanced pedicures either incorporating chiropody, acid peels or high tech equipment that will eliminate your hard skin and thick cuticles.
On a more cautionary note, experts are concerned about the latest beauty craze to sweep the nation. The Health Protection Agency says that Garra Rufa Fish Pedicures are the subject of a major investigation. It appears that they are investigating the risk of cross-infection. I was interested to read that the fi sh pedicures have been banned in 14 states in the U.S over health and safety concerns of having the same fi sh clean the skin of multiple customers.
