WHAT’S ON OUR RADAR THIS MONTH. Cardiff In Bloom

Now that the daffodils are in full bloom, it is safe to say that spring has finally arrived. To mark the occasion, the Royal Horticultural Society will be holding its first show of the season in Cardiff this month. The three-day spring show, set in the beautiful surroundings of Cardiff Castle and Bute Park, runs from Fri 8-Sun 10 Apr, showcasing some of the year’s most creative garden designs. Highlights from the 2010 show included the Cardiff: Capital For Shopping design from Cardiff County Council Parks Service which paid homage to the newly opened St David’s shopping centre – the design boasted themed display windows such as a jewellery shop with floral necklaces over mirrors and gold leaved plants, as well as recycled shopping bags for planters. This year’s show will be a haven for active gardeners and should all this creativity inspire you to design your own horticultural masterpiece, experts will also be providing useful advice throughout the event.

RHS Spring Flower Show comes to Cardiff Castle and Bute Park from Fri 8-Sun 10 Apr. Tickets: £8/£7 (£10 on the day). Info: 0844 3387505 / www.rhs.org.uk/cardiff

Offering a unique opportunity to explore Cardiff’s history through artefacts and interactive displays, the exhibition has plenty of hands on activities to entertain the kids in an exciting and modern museum environment.
