The month of April always gives us the feeling that the “lazy, hazy days of summer” are not too far away, but of course there is also massive national and local level for us here on Merseyside Nationally we celebrate St George’s Day on the 23rd of the month, while locally we anticipate the running of the greatest steeplechase in the world as runners and riders gather at Aintree for the Grand National a fortnight earlier This year there is also the April Royal Wedding as William marries Kate in what we all hope will be a long and happy association. The occasion could have massive o n Merseyside and while we cannot make any announcement as we go to Press, keep watching the news items on our website for updated information.

Here at Mersey Magazine we are amazed at the response we are getting from a worldwide audience. The mix of features and hard news stories associated with our area has attracted favourable comment from
places as far away as Australia, Hong Kong and America and as we progress through the superb efforts of our young staff we hope to expand the coverage even more Alex-Louise Nicholson and Steven Carney, who are totally responsible for the design and upkeep of the website and magazine, are 2nd year University students here in Liverpool while feature journalist Peter Turner is a recent History graduate
As editor of this magazine I am so grateful to them for their unstinting efforts.
Vince Tracy is with us again this month remembering his “great on what might have been for many Merseyside bands as he goes back over his 50 years experience in the business, and of course we have the latest “gourmet’s delight” from our Mystery Chef
