 companies tend to want everyone to sound the same, but to see a bit of  My Time was a deliberate   to use one note, but that doesn’t mean it’s monotone or boring. MM: So, growing up, who did you listen to?


 Bowie. His Ziggy Stardust phase mainly, I just thought that trilogy of albums he did was fantastic. His diction and style were amazing. The abstract way he delivered his lyrics was so considered and so wonderful. The way he brought out ideas is something I’ve tried to    to go and get these albums and I’d listen to them. Jethro Tull, T-Rex, they were the sort of artists I was listening to. The Beach Boys as well, I was a big fan of them.


MM: Well, you can hear those  you’ve acknowledged the Dylan link, because I thought it sounded very much like early-Dylan! So, Where do you get the inspiration for your music? Particularly ‘Dust on my Halo’ – can you tell us the story behind that?


GT: Well, that started out as a deliberate attempt to write songs for the album. So  and I thought…’hmmm, that sounds nice’. But when I write, I don’t tend to write 


just sing a load of nonsense until I get the melody right. And gradually, you get a line     which was designed to be my ‘swansong’, which is on my second album, which is   similar to that one. But I didn’t have enough songs for the album! I’m not sure  from.


MM: It ties in beautifully with the whole album concept, you know of eternity, angels and that sort of thing.


 My Halo, sounded quite nice. And I  saying to me, ‘We’ve got about 6 hit songs on here, we just need a few more.’ And I remember singing to myself, ‘there’s dust on my halo,’ and it was a nice expression. So we used it, and made a decent pop song into something really excellent! It  was the embodiment of the whole album  the eternity thing, the concept of dust and space dust, and atoms etc, is what really  we are always going to be here after we’re gone.


MM: You were a part of the Liverpool live scene during the 1980s with your band No Exit. What was it like to make  city?


 in the region of 90 gigs, in about 4 and a half years in the city. But, it was exciting,
