George Everett Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 30th,1944 to the union of Robert Lee Jones and Velma Orlynne Crossley . He was the youngest born of 5 children.
He accepted Christ into his life at an early age. George attended St Anne's and Corpus Christi Catholic grammar schools. He attended Corpus Christi High School and was a member of the first graduating class when the name was changed to Hales Franciscan High School High school is where George met his first love Carolyn LWilson . They later married,
and to that to that union were born his daughters Tina Louise and Teresa Yvette.
School is where George nourished his love of basket ball. He often expressed to daughter Tina, fond memories of playing basket ball and voiced his one disappointment at giving it up after heart surgery in his early 40's. George was a Civic minded individual, starting with a brief stint in the U S Navy. He once served as a Precinct Captain of his ward. He also briefly worked for the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation . In 1973, he began what would become a 34 year career serving with the Chicago Police Department . George served and protected with distinction and pride,. He has received countless recognitions including; 2 unit Merit Performance awards, 104 Honorable Mentions and 11 Complimentary letters and culminating with an award for Honorable Service upon his retirement in 2007!!
George was preceded in death by his mother Velma in his early teens, then later sister Audrey Orlynne Jones-Coleman (T-Darling), His father Robert Lee Sr, both brothers, Fredrick Jones(Freddie), Robert Lee Jones, Jr (Poochie) , son Everett Quiron Jones and most recently his oldest sister Barbara June Burgs.
George leaves to cherish his memory: Ex -Wife Carolyn Evans, Daughters Tina Dorsey (Kevin) and Teresa Jones. Grand daughters, Tasha Williams and Shelby Leigh Dorsey. Grandsons Bryce Anthony Dorsey and Malik Everett Jones. Great grandson, Landon Williams, along with Longtime companion, Jimette Fields, Special Cousin Denise Davenport and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who all loved him dearly.
