he day went very well and approximately £900 has been raised - with all money going direct to the charity.
Big thanks go to Judy & Gerry of the Star Inn for letting us use/take over their pub on a Saturday, Paul Weir of Sweat & Smile Personal Training for providing the bikes, for compiling the special spin music, for the technical advice that stopped me from dying but most of all, for riding it with me and supporting me all the way.
Thanks also go to: 18 Bikes, Adidas, Boots (Buxton), Buxton Opera House, Co- op Food Store (Tideswell), Decathlon, Haddon Hall, High Peak Radio, High Peak Signs, Holdsworth, Man United, Markovitz, Peaches, Tideswell Stores & Vanilla Kitchen for donating prizes of otherwise assisting

the event. (apologises for anyone that I have missed out!)
Both myself and Paul managed to last the whole 12 hours, burning over 8,340 calories and showing a covered distance of 132 miles! Thanks must also go to the people who came on the day to support us and cheer us on with what proved to be a difficult physical and mental challenge.

Best Regards, Phil Whitehead Scratch and sniff – holy grass O
ur scouts report that the use of the grass around St John the Baptist
church by dogs, which has been mentioned more than once in these columns, is still going on.
The other day I saw for myself how a BLACK LABRADOR WITH A BLUE COLLAR left its pile on someone’s grave. No-one appeared to scoop the mess up, and the dog was last seen scooting off along the frontage of the Co-op, pursuing its own independent agenda.
Another report is of dog owners ‘walking their dog’ on the way to and from the school. There are signs up all round the Sports Complex saying that dogs are not allowed, yet people seem to think it’s OK provided they’re on school business.
The Village Voice says: TAKE YOUR DOG FOR A WALK, don’t just let it loose.
