Giving improves quality of life Benefit comes not only to recipient, but also to giver Charitable trusts and gift annuities
By Jerry Dalton Director of Community Relations
(Acts 20:35b NIV). Medical researchers today confirm the extraordinary benefits of giving — that helping others improves our physical and emotional well-being. In a study of people who lived to be 100
S
years or older, the most frequent answer to the most important thing they have learned in their long life was “to love others as myself.” Giving is the key to a happy life. You may be thinking about what you want
from life and the legacy you wish to leave. As you reflect on these matters, we hope you will give some thought to your involvement with Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village. Current gifts from donors are important
to our mission. Equally important are gifts that donors make today to benefit Hutchinson Village in the future. These are called planned gifts and are generally made through wills or trusts. Charitable gifts that are included in a person’s will can result in considerable tax savings on the estate.
Bequests
Many people find joy in knowing they can help ensure the future of the Good Samar- itan Society by naming the center as a bene- ficiary in their wills. Gifts made through your will can be for a specific amount or for a percentage of your estate.

A charitable trust or gift annuity allows you to retain lifetime income while providing a future gift to Hutchinson Village. It also offers immediate and long-term tax savings.
Life insurance policies
You can designate Hutchinson Village as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or transfer ownership of the policy to the center.
With careful planning, not only will you
increase your own happiness and well-being, but you also will have the satisfaction of knowing you helped ensure that Good Samaritan Society – Hutchinson Village will continue to be here for families and the community far into the future. Please give me a call at (620) 663-1189

Become a part of our mission
Whether it’s enhancing a service, providing special entertainment, making the center look and feel more like home, or funding a community outing, it is because of the generosity of donors that Hutchinson Village is able to help resi- dents live life to the fullest. The center is part of
The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, a not-for-profit organiza- tion with a mission to share God’s love in word and deed by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need, believing that “In Christ’s Love, Everyone Is Someone.” To be a part of this
mission, please consider making a donation to the center by calling Jerry Dalton at (620) 663-1189 or visiting the center’s secure online giving site at
www.good-sam.com. All donated money stays
in local banks, and items are purchased locally when possible. Donations can be designated to a specific item or project, and all gifts are tax-deductible within IRS regulations. ✞
