“Networking Your Way to a Great Job” and “Building a Better Brand – Causing People to Pay More Attention to You”
Dave Sherman has the distinction of being one of the only “professional icebreakers” on earth. He is the founder and president of Dave Sherman Speaks, a speaking, training and coaching organization that teaches people how to mix, mingle and schmooze. He is also the creator of the Successful Networker Program and the 3-Minute Video Networking Program – each a collection of tips and techniques to teach people how to master the art of networking.
Before becoming a speaker and trainer, Sherman was an award-winning small business owner. He was named one of the Top Small Business People of the Year by the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and later received the same award by the Tempe Chamber of Commerce. He recently received the Mass Mutual Blue Chip Award for Small Business Excellence.

“The Happiness Factor: Creating your unique competitive advantage” Walt Disney once said, “You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.” That’s exactly what happened to Kirk Wilkinson. Having been abandoned by his mother in his youth, laid off and re-hired by the same company three times, experienced personal and financial setbacks, and having survived cancer – twice, Wilkinson knows what it is like to be kicked in the teeth and why it can indeed be the best thing for you. Wilkinson is the author of the bestselling book, “The Happiness Factor: How to be Happy No Matter What!” His work has been featured in national media, including The Montel Williams Show, Woman’s World Magazine, PBS, National Public Radio and major U.S. newspapers. Stephen Covey, author of “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” praised Wilkinson’s book as “edifying and inspiring.” Wilkinson also serves as the chief officer of Corporate Culture and Employee Happiness for Best Companies AZ and is a 27-year veteran of Hewlett Packard.
“Live, Laugh, Blame Somebody Else: Life After Layoff” Susan Baier has more than 25 years of experience in product and brand management, marketing research, business development and strategic planning with Fortune 100 firms, small companies and
marketing agencies – none of which has prevented her from being laid off twice and nearly fired more times than she can count. In a desperate attempt to control her own destiny, Baier decided to use her MBA in Entrepreneurship and start her own company, Audience Audit Inc., which provides strategic marketing advice and research that helps organizations understand their customers better and make their marketing more relevant, effective and economical. She also leads a team of volunteers who host Chandler’s LaidOffCamp twice a year, offering people out of work support to build a community, use the best tools and strategies to find a job, and feel like they can make it one more day without throwing themselves off the balcony.
When Baier’s not working – and sometimes when she is – she spends her time building her community in Chandler and elsewhere, connecting people who can help each other out and drinking beer. Susan Baier
