Chandler’s Xico, Inc. presents “Xico Inks: The Art of Printmaking,” an exhibit featuring artwork by local Chicano, Latino and Native American artists, March 26 through July 13 at Tempe Public Library.


The exhibit includes information on the history, technique and cultural context of printmaking by indigenous Southwestern artists, who traditionally used monoprints, screen prints and other techniques as a method of communicating political, social and cultural ideas.

‘Threepenny Opera’ Suite to U.S. Airways


The Phoenix Symphony continues its 2010-11 U.S. Airways Classics series with its performance of Weill’s “Threepenny Opera” suite March 24 through 26 at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix.


Concertmaster Steven Moeckel leads the Symphony as featured conductor and soloist for Mozart’s “Haffner Serenade” and Kurt Weill’s Suite from “The Threepenny Opera,” which includes “Mack the Knife.” The concert is paired with “A Study for Strings,” written by Czech composer Pavel Haas. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thu., March 24; 11 a.m. Fri., March 26; and 8 p.m. Sat., March 26.

VTY has ‘No Good, Very Bad Day’


Valley Youth Theatre presents “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” April 1 through 17 at its downtown Phoenix theatre. Performances of the stage adaptation of Judith Viorst’s classic children’s book will be held at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, noon and 3:30 p.m. Saturdays and 12:30 and 4 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $20.
