Trocadero signs new F&B anchor


Criterion Capital has granted a new lease for the former Rex Club in London’s Trocadero to KPIP which plans a new high- end bar/restaurant concept Trocadero owner Criterion


Capital sought rental offers in the region of £750,000 pax for the 11,000-sq ft venue in London’s Leicester Square which benefits from an increasingly rare 3am license. Davis Coffer Lyons advised


Criterion and agent Jonathan Moradoff said: “This is an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced club operator. Such large sites as this are very hard to come by and we are very pleased


with the rental level achieved on this unique opportunity. “This new venture, together


with other new schemes coming through in the vicinity will give it a new life to the Trocadero, and make it once again become a world class leisure destination. “ And Moradoff explained:


“Although in the heart of London’s clubland with hundreds of thousands of people passing by every day, the area has been crying out for a new, more sophisticated premier leisure destination and this will provide it with a venue to rival other successful late-night operations in Mayfair.”


Mr Pretzels opens at Lakeside, Thurrock


International snacks on the go retailer Mr Pretzels, which has more than 160 stores in 17 countries across the world, has opened its first outlet within the Capital Shopping Centres portfolio, at Lakeside in Thurrock. The snacks specialist, which


prepares and bakes its products onsite, has opened a 350-sq ft unit discussions for further stores within CSC’s market leading shopping centres. Jonathan Ainsley, director


of asset management south at Capital Shopping Centres, said: “Mr Pretzels is an international


brand that offers our visitors something truly different within Lakeside, adding a unique twist to our food and snacks offer and we are pleased to be able to introduce them into the CSC portfolio.” Marlene Makhoul, managing


director of Mr Pretzels (UK) Retail said: “Capital Shopping Centres have good malls with high footfall and we believe that our products will be appealing to their customers who want something to keep their energy levels up when they are on the go and busy shopping.”


CapCo’s big Ponti scheme


Capital & Counties has taken a surrender of the lease belonging to Ponti’s restaurant, sited in one of the most prominent locations in the Piazza on the North Range of the Market Building. The space is immediately opposite the new Apple and Kurt Geiger flagship stores.


Situated in the North Hall of


the Market Building, the 4,000-sq ft unit will become an exciting new dining concept and a number


of high quality restaurants have been shortlisted. The Ponti’s exit marks the


latest refining of the tenant mix in the Covent Garden Market Building where 60 per cent of the food units have being turned over in the last two years, with some of London’s most coveted eateries taking residence, including Le Pain Quotidien, Battersea Pie Station and Ladurée, due to open this Spring.
