In June 2009 Rafa Muñoz and his fishing buddy Alex promised themselves a short fishing break, somewhere not too remote but peaceful and beautiful.
After approximately ninety minutes drive, north east from Granada, they arrived at Castril Natural Park. Here they spent a couple of days fishing the intensive reserve of the Castril River near Baza.
“The Castril is very different from the rivers of the Sierra Nevada, it has cloudy water. In spite of its turbid nature it’s perfect for fly fishing.
Castril Natural Park is a wonderful location. Vultures were spotted, flying overhead, using thermals created by the mountains to rise gracefully above the midday heat.
