EVOLVING THE BOOK
Intellectual property rights are not only important to secure initial investment in a product or service. They also provide the basis for the vast range of opportunities to capitalise on new technologies or to create spin-off products from a successful publication. Publishers are investing heavily in digitising their backlists and ensuring that all new publications are available across print, ebook, audio book and other formats. Without IP, publishers would be unable to make the most of success stories in this way, as they would not have sufficient security in place to make additional investments and grow their brand in new ways.
