For those with a spirit of adventure and wanting an entirely different cruise!
The Aranui 3 offers an adventure of a life-time whilst discovering the Marquesas Archipelago, some 1300 kilometres north east of Tahiti, which hosts some of the most remote and beautiful islands in the world.
This 13 night adventure starts from Papeete onboard Aranui 3, a specially built ship that carries 200 passengers, in modern day comfort, and 3000 tonne of freight. The ship, built in 2002 and launched the next year, boasts many of the facilities that are more typically found in big cruise ships; which includes a swimming pool, sun deck, gym, library, bar, dining room and passenger lounge. But the similarities end there. This is a working ship delivering the freight and collecting local produce from around the islands of the Marquesas Archipelago.
The gracious and hospitable staff, many of whom have been with Aranui for years, will
introduce this Polynesian paradise and the century old customs that so fascinated early explorers like Cook, Porter and Melville.
The multilingual onboard lecturers will explain the connection between the original peoples of the Marquesas, the explorers and the famous artists and writers like Paul Gauguin, Robert Louis Stevenson and Jacques Brel.
The cruise includes all meals, wine with lunch and dinner onboard and all land based excursions. Contact Ultimate Cruising for copies of the 16 page brochure, departure schedule, pricing sheets and the latest DVD.
