Rosco

The Rosco X24 X-Effects projector provides large scale 3D effects previously unavailable to lighting designers. The device utilises a 200W Enhanced Metal Arc source, whose short arc allows for an output of 5K lumens, and a 7,000 hour lamp life. The colour temperature is similar to Xenon source at 6,000K but with nearly two times the luminous effectiveness (or efficacy), of a halogen source. The effect itself is created by rotating two “X” size glass gobos off center of the optical path. This results in a projection that does not appear to have a visible direction or pattern. www.rosco.com

Light Years Ahead

Caravaggio by Cecilie Manz was introduced in 2005. Thanks to its simple design, Caravaggio has quickly proven its potential for becoming a genuine classic, and is now being presented in a neutral version with black chrome suspension and black cord, Caravaggio BlackBlack. Available in five sizes, the shade is made of drawn steel/aluminum and coated with smooth, high-gloss paint. www.lightyears.dk

Trizo21

Bouly and Bucky are really cutting loose with their ‘curves’ although in every other respect, their sober design fits perfectly with the company philosophy. Bouly (pictured) and Bucky are available as tabletop lighting, for wall and ceiling mounting or for recessed mounting. The Bouly table design takes 4 x 1.2W Powerleds and is available in different colour options. www.trizo21.com

Rare Basic

The partnership between Rare Basic and AVR allows the culmination of powerful LED lighting for in-store and window displays. The lighting offers 60 per cent less energy than CDMT and 80 per cent less than halogen. Recent projects include Jones the Bootmaker, Reebok and Topshop at Oxford Circus. www.rarebasic.co.uk

Sill Lighting

A particular innovation that caught our eye was Sill’s Aerial LED exterior/interior luminaire. Aerial is available with either one, two or three modules and each module can be independently rotated, can be either white or RGB-Amber and each can have different optic options. It can be a floodlight, streetlight, it can uplight and downlight combined and can be specified with a choice of optics for asymmetric, spot, narrow, wide or ellipsoidal beams. www.sill-uk.com

P4

P4 demonstrated four brand new products, including two new stylish wall and ceiling mounted sign luminaires, πi and Ώmega. Both feature high intensity LEDs and incorporate suspended 12m opal legend panels with die-cut legends and edged with extruded trim. The M-web+ Ethernet interface with intergrated web server attracted particular interest as it brings P4’s FASTELink technology to smaller premises, and is already being specified. The BulkLED wall mounted IP65 wall mounted weatherproof luminaire also looks set to figure in architectural specifications later in the year. P4 also launched a new branding for its range of LED luminaires, Quatrum LED. www.p4fastel.co.uk.
