2010 high-point champions were A Vested Legend (performance horse), Leslie Andrews (non-pro), Amy Haukeness (35&o), Debbie Harley (masters), Kelsey Wilson (13&o & ACAAP-youth), and Alias Delight (games &
ACAAP-horse). At the United States Equine Federa-
tion’s annual meeting, held in Lexington, KY on January 21, Michael Byatt, of New Ulm, received the Norman K Dunn Award, which is presented to an equestrian showing a horse in hand or at halter. Throughout his career, Byatt has received accolades worldwide. He has won top titles showing Arabians at 3 major US shows plus internationally at Aachen, Menton, Sharjah, and Paris.
Lost Horizon Ranch, of Bryan, hosted its
2010 awards banquet on January 28. Elizabeth Schroeder was a big winner, being overall high-point champion for both the playday and horse show series as well as high-point cham- pion for youth 9-13 and winner of both the Al- abama Power Challenge and Skip Eddie Challenge. Her horse Spirit was high-point senior horse. Other high-point winners in- cluded Bailee Shirley (8&u), Morgan Koehn (14-18), and Marsha Takao (19&o). Champion horses included Sweet Tea (jr-horse/George Godfrey) and Zippos Socks (high-point-color- horse/Rebecca Summer). Mariann Balcar’s 17.124 barrel average earned her the Leslie Sanders memorial buckle, while Elizabeth Wright’s 24.918 pole average netted her the Mancha memorial buckle. Tracy Farris of Midway, must have inherited some of her mom’s artistic talent. Recently her “Jump Rope for Heart” poster won her school’s poster contest, and her art will be put on a t-shirt for the event.

Playday Series The Guadalupe County Sheriff's Posse will
begin the 2011 playday series on March 26 at the Posse arena on FM 466 in Seguin. Other dates scheduled are April 23, May 28 and June 18. Rain dates, if needed, will be Apr 2, Apr 30, Jun 4 and Jul 2. Events will include goat pulling/tying, pole bending, cloverleaf and straight barrels. There will be no roping events.
