Dr. Leslie Falcon of Falcon Family Eye Care in Chandler will serve on the new Transitions Pro Forum, a national panel bringing together leaders in the vision care field to gather industry insights and test cutting-edge technology, selected by Transitions Optical, Inc.

Mirranda Stapley of Chandler was recognized with the 2010 Rising Guiding Excellence in Management (GEM) Award by the Arizona Association of Community Managers. The award recognizes a manager with less than two years of experience in the management industry who has displayed exceptional abilities. The GEM awards are considered “the most prestigious community management awards in Arizona.”

Wendy Newman of Wendy Newman Studios in Chandler earned both the Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees from Professional Photographers of America. The degrees were presented to Newman at the association’s annual convention, Imaging USA, held in San Antonio, TX. Newman has been a Certified Professional Photographer operating a private portrait studio in Chandler for more than 10 years.

Pamela Jones, a Chandler resident, was hired by BTC Electronic Components, a leading distributor of electronic connectors for the aerospace, military and commercial industries, as a new account executive in their Chandler office. Jones is the first Arizona resident hired by the company. Info:

Matthew Roberts of Gilbert is the new director of communications for the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office. Roberts will be the primary contact for media members seeking information on state elections, voter registration and other issues, and will work with the Library and Archives divisions in the state government to ensure that state agencies and departments are taking proper care to preserve significant documents and other records. Roberts is a graduate of the State University of New York and has served as communications director for the Arizona Republican Party and two members of the New York State Senate.


Mayor listens to W. Chandler

To provide West Chandler residents with information on the city’s resources and services and engage them in conversations about challenges they face, Mayor Jay Tibshraeny joins Chandler’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC) at 7 p.m. Tue., March 8 at Kyrene de las Brisas Elementary School’s Media Center at 777 N. Desert Breeze Blvd. East.

The meeting is the second in a series of “Listening Tours” hosted by NAC.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT: Mary Mills of Chandler was awarded a Lifetime Membership certificate from Weeders Garden Club. She arrived in Chandler in 1940 and has been a member of Weeders Garden Club for 50 years. Mills is a former president of the organization and still active within it. “Teaming up with our Advisory Committee on this listening tour enables me to keep in touch with our residents and better grasp the issues they are dealing with,” Tibshraeny says. “And, members of our Youth Commission will attend the March meeting to share their thoughts.”
