ROAD RACING ROUNDUP Veterans Road Relay success with

Championships held in Ilkley on Saturday 23 October. We had eight men’s teams running this year, which was an increase over last year’s seven.

All teams ran well, with the highlight probably being the second place result of the M60 team of Colin Lugton, David Millson and Don MacRae. Our M60 A team were otherwise engaged organising and marshalling the event, so it was great to see

he highlight of the men’s road racing Autumn season so far was the Yorkshire Vets Road Relay

Ilkley still win a prize in this category. There were selection headaches for the three M50 teams, as it wasn’t obvious who should be running in which team. As it turned out, the A and B teams were very evenly matched, finishing in second and third places. The M35 team put in a very strong performance to finish second in their age group and second overall, with Matt Cox doing a fine run to record the fastest time of the day. The M40 A team narrowly missed a prize in fourth place. Overall a return of three second place

Ilkley Harriers in action at the Yorkshire Vets Road Relays: Paul Stephens hands over to Bob Hamilton (V50 team) as Sally Malir sends off Alison Bennett (V45 silver medal team).
