An IMPRESSIVE school with high expectations
The school is situated in Romsey, a very pleasant abbey town in the southern Test Valley. Opened in 1969 and built on land formerly in the ownership of Earl Mountbatten’s Broadlands Estate, the school enjoyed the patronage of Lord Louis until his demise. We are honoured that the Lord Brabourne continues in this role.
Our motto: We care, We respect, We achieve is woven into every aspect of school life. We have very high expectations of all our students to work hard for academic success, to be responsible and courteous and to be aware of those less fortunate than ourselves.
Mountbatten is one of the most successful comprehensive schools in Hampshire. Excellent GCSE results are testimony to outstanding teaching and working with parents in real partnership. As a specialist Languages College with full international school award, our students’ learning experience is rich in cultural diversity and global dimension. The Sports College specialism focuses on personal health, fitness and well-being in addition to encouraging sporting competition and promoting team spirit.
Whilst the school is traditional in its values, the curriculum is contemporary and dynamic, tailored to meet the aspirations, interests and aptitudes of our students enabling them to become confident, independent, adaptable and resilient learners. All students are encouraged to take on a leadership role to develop skills in leading and managing people. As a result, our students are very well placed to successfully embark on 21st century life and work.
An exciting programme of extra-curricular activities and enrichment gives an abundance of opportunities for students to enjoy learning experiences outside the classroom. Trips abroad include America, China, Italy, Germany, France and Belgium. Field trips to the New Forest and the Jurassic Coast, Languages and special interests clubs and Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, early morning running and trampoline club ensure there is something for everyone.
We are pleased to invite you to join us.
