cious MAC lunch. Twenty-seven old timers attended this annual event on Jan. 14. Such legends and cham- pions as Bob Shoning (now of Corvallis), Ernie Johnson, Jack Scrivens and Wally Palmberg honored the handball commu- nity with their presence and stories. and no one ever gets tired of telling them or hearing them.

It was good to see Nelson Olf at the luncheon; thanks to Burt Beahm for encouraging him to come. Olf looks as good today as he did 30 years ago when he retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. Roland Heartl told a story regarding his own passing away. Apparently someone

with the same name was listed in the obit- uary. It was the same name, but a different initial. Heartl received many cards and telephone calls but he explained that he is still alive. He always wanted to know what people thought of him after he was gone. It was a funny story and the room had a good laugh.

Mike Steele, USHA president, talked about where the dues dollars go: they help support junior handball at the grade- school level. Steve Grow gave a report on the Irv Alten Foundation. Money is primarily used for sending players to tour- naments, and is also used to support local tournaments.

Upcoming events

The club is proud to host the USHA regionals Sunday, May 1. Between 120 and 140 players register and play.

Members are also invited to come and watch handball intramural play, which runs through this month.
