PUTTING SPRING’S BEST FACE FORWARD SKINCARE 2011!
1
CLEAN IT/WASH IT. Any good skin care regime begins with a great cleans-
er. If you have dry skin, cleanse with a creamy cleanser that won’t strip your skin of its essential oils. Oily skin? Go with a gel cleanser that has a little alpha-hydroxy or salicylic acid to help clear skin & promote cell turnover. If you have sensitive skin look for a fragrance free, hypoal- lergenic cleanser that won’t cause breakouts. Try: Code SC “Hide My Stash in the Juicer” Citrus
& Hemp Cleanser. Code SC is one of the coolest, newest men’s skincare lines. It’s 100% natural and made with organic and sustainable ingredients. The company is green and prides itself on a zero landfill and small car- bon footprint policy.
It might seem a bit girlie to do more than wash your face with a bar of Zest but you know what? Gay, straight or anywhere in between - looking good is kind of all that matters. The basics: Wash it, exfoliate it and moisturize it.

EXFOLIATE/TONE IT UP. This step is often skipped and yes it adds an extra
five minutes to your time in the morning. How do I get around it? I exfoliate in front of the TV or while on the phone. It’s like flossing, you may not enjoy but you gotta do it. Exfoliation literally helps your face slough off dead skin cells revealing new ones trapped underneath.
Try: DDF 10% Glycolic Toner. It finishes the cleans-
ing process by clearing the skin of any leftover dead cells, make-up (you know who you are) and excess oil. I’m a glycolic junkie and 10% is a good percentage. I’m not an amateur. Beauty is pain, so for me, if it stings that means it’s working!

MOISTURIZE/LUBE IT UP. Now you might ask; why use a toner to remove oil only
to turn around and put it back on? Good question; one I’ve asked my dermatologist often. A good moisturizer should contain nutrients that are delivered right to the skin. Also, some moisturizers help minimize fine lines as well as wrinkles and can help clear skin discoloration. Think of it like this, cleansing and exfoliation take away the bad and moisturizer puts in the good. Got it? Great. My favorite moisturizer: Amala Soothe Desert Fig.
Perfect for moving from winter to spring Soothe com- forts and hydrates even the most sensitive skin. Gentle, yet effective seed oils help reduce inflammation and pro- tect skin from redness and reactions for a calm, radiant, even tone. Now, if you are over like 12, you need an eye cream.
I never, repeat never, leave the house without eye cream or go to bed without putting some on. I recom- mend Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Serum & High Potency Eye Lift. The C goes on first & feels like silk. You then layer on the creamy Eye Lift that mattes the under eye are and reduces puffiness! Another super product I can’t live without: Korres
Quercetin & Oak Antiwrinkle Night Cream. Put this on at night and wake up to younger-looking, firmer skin. It’s a nourishing and hydrating essential.
So that’s it ladies and gents: If you want to look
good, you gotta work at it. Drink lots of water, eat right, work out and take care of your skin. After all it’s your biggest organ.
