cant milestone this year, as the organization celebrates its 25th Anniversary. What better way to acknowledge the monumental achievement than by throwing


three separate Award Galas, held in New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco? The GLAAD Media Awards inaugural celebration was held on April 29, 1990 in the


Tower Suite at Rockefeller Center in New York City, to hightlight excellence in the media representation of LGTB people. As the number of nominees and categories increased, the Awards presentation grew to multiple ceremonies and cities, with the current estimate of attendees reaching the 5,000 mark, including celebrities and corporate partners, among many others. GLAAD is not only celebrating turning a quarter of a century old with the aforemen- tioned anniversary, this year also marks 22 years (a double celebration of sorts) of recog- nizing hallmarks in the areas of film, TV, music, theatre and various avenues of journalism - they even recognize achievements in comic books! Let’s take a look at what made the grade this year with a nod from the esteemed group, and who will be singled out for their contributions to the community-at-large.
