Metro Area Real Estate Professionals for Young Adult Housing holds its annual poker tournament to raise funds for The Center’s Youth Housing Project. The eve- ning includes a Vegas-style poker tournament, a players’ lounge, blackjack tables, hors d’oeuvres, no-host bar and grand prizes and giveaways! Poker seats are $40 and spectator-only guest tickets are $15. The MARYAH Poker Tournament takes place Thursday, March 3, at Top of the Park located at 525 Spruce Street in Hillcrest. Family Matters is hosting a clothing and toy swap to help ease the impact a growing family has on your pocketbook. Bring in clothes and toys in good condition that your kids have outgrown and swap them for “new” ones. Arts and crafts will be set up to keep the kids entertained while you shop. COFFEE & CONVERSATION WITH ASHLEY WALKER Join the Women’s Resource Center for a dynamic conversation about community
activism, voting rights, equal opportunity for people of color and more with Coffee & Conversation with Cool Women, featuring Ashley Walker, on Wednesday, March 9. Walker is the former executive director of San Diego’s Human Relations Commission credited with institutionalizing comprehensive and compassionate domestic violence services in the county, which became a model for other cities across the nation. Coffee & Conversation is free and open to all. The event will be going on hiatus for six months after this event, so don’t miss it!
