UPPERTOWN FIREFIGHTERS MUSEUM


A great favorite for kids of all ages, the Uppertown Firefighters Mu- seum houses an extensive collection of firefighting equipment dat- ing from 1873 to 1963. Featured are hand-pulled, horse-drawn, and motorized fire engines, as well as firefighting memorabilia and photos.

HERITAGE MUSEUM RESEARCH CENTER AND ARCHIVES


Built in 1904 as Astoria’s City Hall, this building is now home to the Clatsop County Historical Society’s Heritage Museum, Research Center and Archives. Explore the history of Clatsop County through temporary and permanent exhibits featuring Native Americans, early pioneers, and immigrants.


OREGON FILM MUSEUM


Housed in the old Clatsop County Jail, the museum invites visitors to explore the films and the production behind making movies in Oregon. Wander through this building that was an actual working jail (from 1914 to 1976) and the scene of the famous opening jail break from “The Goonies.”


Admission is $4 for adults; and $2 for children (ages 6-17). The mu- seum, located at 732 Duane St., is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, May through September, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, October through April.

CAPTAIN GRAY’S PORT OF PLAY


Port of Play, formerly the Astoria Children’s Museum, is a creative indoor play space for children aged 0 to 10 in the Capt. Robert Gray School building at 785 Alameda Ave., Astoria (use gym entrance). Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Cost: is $3 per child; pass punch cards and scholarships are available.
