LOWER MAINLAND


26 Coquihalla Canyon


159 ha. • Facilities: Day-use area. • Location: Off Highway 5, north of Hope. • This spectacular day-use area highlights the Canadian Pacific Rail- way route over 3 mountain ranges at the top of the Coquihalla Gorge. In sections, the river has cut a 100-metre channel into solid granite. This is the location of the Othello Tunnels. Day-use pay parking is in effect.


27 Cultus Lake


2,561 ha. • Facilities: 4 campgrounds at Clear Creek (82 sites), Delta Grove (57 sites), Entrance Bay (52 sites) and Maple Bay (104 sites), and 2 large day-use areas. Day-use pay parking is in effect. Three group sites: Honeymoon A & B and Westside are available to reserve. Sani-station and two boat launches are available. • Location: 11 km southwest of Chilliwack. • This park is one of the most popular and busiest destinations in the Lower Mainland, particularly on weekends during the summer. The park is surrounded by a large, warm freshwater lakeband forest-clad mountains which offers ample opportunities for fishing, hiking and picnicking. This is a very popular lake for boating and waterskiing.


28 Sasquatch


1,217 ha. • Facilities: 3 campgrounds at Hicks Lake (71 sites), Bench (63 sites) and Lakeside/ Deer Lake (42 sites) and day-use area. Day-use pay parking is in effect. Hicks Lake has a group site. Note: There is one sani-station in the park.• Location: 6 km north of Harrison Hot Springs. • This park is ideal for small motor (under 10 hp) boating, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing and also offers 7 km of hiking trails, 3 boat launches and canoe rentals. Open for winter camping (no fee, but user maintained).


29 Silver Lake


77 ha. • Facilities: 25 campsites, a boat launch and day-use area. • Location: 12 km southwest of Hope at the east end of the Fraser Valley.• This park is a small, largely undeveloped lake- front area. Visitors can enjoy fishing, picnicking and boating against a spectacular mountain back-drop or take pleasure in a rustic camping experience.


30 Skagit Valley 26


27,948 ha. • Facilities: 3 campgrounds at Silver- tip (43 sites), Ross Lake (88 sites) and a horse camp near Whitworth Meadows (11 sites). A group site, day-use areas, pit toilets and boat launch (Ross Lake) is available. • Location: 37 km south-east of Hope on the Silver-Skagit road, extending another 23 km to the international border. • The Skagit Valley provides excellent outdoor recreation opportunities in a natural, wilderness setting. The park offers 50 km of horse trails and is a very popular fishing area.
