TO HOARD OR NOT TO HOARD..?

recently sold my house and, as I had lived there for 14 years, packing was a mammoth task. I was amazed by how much
‘stuff’ I had accumulated over the years, especially as I always thought that I wasn’t a hoarder. I only had three weeks to empty the house and, as everything
was going into storage and I’d be paying by the cubic square foot to keep my possessions, I decided it was time for a good clear out. I worked my way through the house room by room. I came across boxes that I hadn’t opened for years; in fact, I didn’t even know what was in them. With this in mind I decided
that as I had obviously lived without its contents I could just get rid without much thought. The more I cleared the lighter I felt. This whole experience was liberating. Spring is the season for cleaning and I strongly recommend
that you take the opportunity to have a massive clear out. In these difficult financial times, you can raise some extra cash by using eBay or Gumtree to sell off your unwanted items. There are also charities who will come with a van to take away larger items or, in my case, about 15 boxes of bric-a- brac and clothes. Once I unpack my belongings, no doubt I won’t remember
what’s in all the boxes and I’ll wonder why I have still kept half of them. Maybe I should only keep the things I can name before I open the box... I don’t think that is going to happen though as, at my age, I’d be left with hardly anything. Instead I’m going to sing Christmas Carols and pretend that everything is new.
