WEEKENDERS | 71

EVERYTHING FROM THE GROUNDS AND DRIVEWAY TO THE BARONIAL MANSION IS imposing and impressive – even on a DREICH JANUARY AFTERNOON

i-on The Tranquillity Floating Facial with Back Massage, 1hr 15mins

for £85, was our other recommendation and one that my mum has still not stopped raving about. The treatment is carried out on a warm, water-filled pillow that’s placed under the back. After cleansing, exfoliating and the application of an intensive face masque, a therapeutic massage takes you into a true state of relaxation which will stay with you the entire weekend. Whilst on paper Mar Hall ticks the boxes for its elegant, luxury surroundings and gourmet food, there were admittedly some materialistic aspects which aren’t in keeping with the standards you’d expect from a five star hotel. That aside, the service and food are faultless. And, most importantly, the spa treatments are simply world class.
