Now that spring is approaching, we would like to point out a nice idea for a trip on the weekend or for a stop-over during a bicycle/ hiking trip: a visit to a sculpture garden in the Netherlands!
time to head
Spring is coming again:
Artihoves’ sculpture garden is the ideal location to have a nice walk and at the same time experience some art and culture. Also this year, the sculpture garden is blooming and has a large array of art objects from various artists. Apart from the work of the famous artist Corry Ammerlaan-van Niekerk, sculptures by Rosalie Hammink, Sarah van Roon, Hans Blank, Mieke Beijer and Joop van Nugteren can be found.
Artist Dick van Wijk With utmost pleasure we now turn the spotlight on artist/sculptor Dick van Wijk. Dick van Wijk was born on the 14th of De- cember in 1943 and studied Sculpting at the City Academy and the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.

The work of Dick van Wijk demonstrates the quest of combining geometric shapes with organic shapes. Within the works of the artist the human body forms the basis of his concept. The circle shape is the

symbol of continuity and development. These attributes together with different animal shapes give Dick van Wijk a broad medium to work with.
The materialization of this quest can be ex- pressed in bronze, steel, marble, bluestone and glass. Thereby the combining of dif- ferent materials represents a kind of irony and dynamics in the work. The municipal assignments of the artist Dick van Wijk can be found in the provinces of Limburg and far outside these provinces. The old chapel where Dick van Wijk has his studio, is the former workplace of the world famous stained glass artist Joep Nicolas (1897- 1975).
