The Good Food Market in the Promenade at Fulton Ranch is sponsoring fruit and providing goodie bags for the 4th annual ICAN SanTan Sun Family Fun Run & 5K fundraiser on Sat., March 26 at Tumbleweed Park. In addition, Apex Chiropractic and Advanced Back and Neck Care of Ocotillo will have informational tables and be goodie bag sponsors at the event. Other table sponsors signed up so far for the morning event include Blacker Orthodontics, Aspen Arthodontics, Mona Vie, Rush Dental, United Self Defense Studios and SWIMkids USA.


In addition, West USA Realty’s Carrie Maes is the running charm sponsor, which will enable every runner to receive a small “foot” charm and bracelet that morning. Donations for ICAN, a 501 (c)(3) Chandler nonprofi t that provides out-of-school time, research-based programs for youth at risk, have been committed from Healing Hearts Pediatrics and Carebear Preschool. Other goodie bag sponsors at press time include D’Vine Gourmet Gifts, Parker & Lazarra, Netzel & Associates, Tammy Mills Fitness, Yo Love Yogurt and Chick-fi l-A.


Tickets will be sold for prizes that so far include 100 tickets to Pollack Tempe Cenemas, two $100

Sponsored by the SanTan Sun News, the City of Chandler and other local businesses, the ICAN Fun Run and 5K begins and ends under the McDowell Mountain Pavilion outside the Tumbleweed Recreation Center and proceeds down the concrete Paseo Trail and back. The event is suitable for families, children, adults, seniors and serious runners and includes a 1.8-mile section for the fun run as well as a timed 3.5-mile race.


A scavenger hunt to locate a variety of animals and other items along the trail will also be available for children. All paid participants receive a running charm, certifi cate of completion and goodie bag, and drawing tickets will be sold for a variety of prizes throughout the morning. A bounce house will be onsite for children.

A car show, K-9 demonstrations, free VIN etching, face painting and a bounce house are all part of the Chandler Police Department Community Resources Unit’s annual Open House and Car Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., March 5.


The event, which takes place at the Main Station


in downtown Chandler, also features Chandler law enforcement offi cers explaining explain the different units of their department. Hourly tours of the Police Department are scheduled, for which advanced signup is recommended.

It’s $50 to be a goodie bag sponsor and place items in the more than 300 goodie bags.
