“Thumbs down tot Lars Christiansen. What kind of man asks for a pardon for another man who molested a young girl 69 times? One wonders what his background is . He should be removed as our representative to the state A.S.A.P. If our other reps can’t do that, someone younger than I should start a petition for his removal. Selectmen can tell you how to do that and make it legal. Is our representative sick in the head? Pardon a man with that background? He’ll do it again for sure. Will it be your child? Act people – act against now!”

“Thumbs up! To Kay Shoubash and her culinary catering crew; Cody Hamel, Chance Begnoche and Derek Moury for serving up a spectacular feast to the All State Jazz Festival. Thank you for keeping everyone pleasantly full of some fantastic food and thank you to all the parents/volunteers for the wonderfully delicious sweets! Thank you also goes out to the sound crew and custodians for your dedication and your hard work to make this a wonderful affair.”

whoopie pie maker! Suzie, your kind gesture was to thank us, but I believe we made out in the deal. Thanks to great neighbors!”

“Thumbs down to Windham School

Board candidate Rick Horrigan. He would rather fill our high school with kids from Pelham instead of our own kids and spend millions to build an addition to our new high school for Pelham kids instead of taking care of our own overcrowded schools! Why would we want a school board member who cares more about Pelham’s problems than our own?!”

“Thumbs down to PHS and the school district for being the ONLY HS in the area to force their senior class to make up snow days. After 13 years of school you are going to hold them off and make them make the days up... Why is it that our seniors are now slated to graduate at the end of June when all surrounding towns do not move there grad date for snow days...”

the safety of our school children than Roland. Remember all the problems he found when they were building PES? If not for him our children would not be safe today. Guess nobody told you about that. Keep up the good work Roland!”

“Thumbs down to SB, Police, BOS for asking

for a school police officer position. The last time we had a school police officer the position was eliminated by the police chief to make a new captains position after the taxpayers voted it down. The new school position is only a ploy position to add other positions on the police department. PLEASE VOTE IT DOWN.”

paying down or paying off a mortgage. In these times of municipal economic stress tax assessors will evaluate the amount of mortgage on a property and adjust the property value accordingly, at which point it is up to the property owner to waste their time and energy proving otherwise. If you have a low or no mortgage your property value is guaranteed to be higher and you’ll be paying more, after all, you don’t have a mortgage so the bad logic is that you have extra cash for the town.”

labels on cigarette packs and stated I was wrong, wrong, wrong. Here’s just a brief part of a recent article that is on msnb.com today regarding alcohol. Whatever the stats, if the powers that be choose to go after smokers they should also be looking at alcohol related deaths, thank you very much. Alcohol control policies are weak and remain a low priority for most governments despite drinking’s heavy toll on society from road accidents, violence, disease, child neglect and job absenteeism, it said. Approximately 2.5 million people die each year from alcohol related causes, the WHO said in its ‘Global Status Report on Alcohol and drinking at much higher levels than women in all regions,’ the report said. Alcohol is a causal factor in 60 types of diseases and injuries, according to WHO’s first report on alcohol since 2004. Its consumption has been linked to cirrhosis of the liver, epilepsy, poisonings, road traffic accidents, violence, and several types of cancer, including cancers of the colorectum, breast, larynx and liver.”

“Thumbs up. My husband and I are spending our first winter as residents of Pelham and are very impressed by the work being done by the Highway Department and their contracted snow plowers. Great Job!!! Keep up the good work.”

“Thumbs down to Bubble Head and his $3.4

Trillion - Oh my. Debt upon more debt that the children of Hudson and Litchfield will be forced to pay. He and his incompetent administration are bankrupting this

country. Great job to Senator Ayotte, Representative Bass, and Representative Guinta from New Hampshire leading the way to getting this country back on the right track and slashing Bubble Head’s bankrupting agenda.”

“Thumbs up to Kindergarten in Pelham, to the Budget Committee for understanding the Value of 75% State Funding for Kindergarten classrooms. Instead of spending $562 thousand dollars for Trailers/Portables, not a permanent solution. The Budget Committee was able to see the value of investing in a building for kindergarten, Special Education Preschool. With the 75% State Funding, this will give us a permanent solution for our students. What is important to note is that most citizens don’t realize is that we already Fund the Cost of special education preschool children which is mandated from the time a child turns three years of age. The Pelham School District is mandated to provide Special Needs Children with PT, OT, and special education. Early intervention is critical to a child with special needs. With the 75% State Funding available this year to build a permanent building this will secure a very important piece of the Pelham School Districts needs. Let’s move forward with a permanent solution for Kindergarten, Special Education Preschool by voting YES on Article 2.”

“Thumbs up, way up and please vote YES on the new kindergarten and Preschool. As a Mom with a little one in kindergarten, we are struggling to keep our little one in Kindergarten, at a costing

students and it is being built for 275 students. State requirements call for half day class, the school board is planning for full day classes. That means the state will only pay for 75% of actual students attending the school approx. number 76, not the as built size of 275. Also the added rooms for preschool, teacher’s lounge are not covered by the state. Many taxpayers are currently unemployed or under employed this is not a time to overbuild in town. Please vote the kindergarten complex down!”

“Thumbs up. A while back someone responded

back to me about Smoking vs Alcohol related deaths due to the nonsense about putting graphic

of almost $400/month. Please know that my vote is NOT going to provide any relief for us as by next year our child will be in Elementary School and we do not have any other children. I am voting YES for two reason. 1) Because I do not want to see ANY child miss out or be behind when starting school. 2) I am concerned that property values will suffer greatly if we are one of the only towns that doesn’t provide these services. Looking back, if I had done my homework before purchasing our home, I would not have choose Pelham. That was 7 years ago, now we can’t afford to leave. Vote ‘yes’ on the pre-K and kindergarten! Please!!!”

“Thumbs up! To Megan Larson for jumping in and filling the vacant seat on the school board. Megan is a great Mom and a hard worker. I am so excited to have her on the board. I hope for our sake she gets voted in and stays! Hate to end my comment on a sour note but here goes...’thumbs down’ to the person in last weeks’ ‘thumbs’ and their negative comments about Mrs. Larson’s nomination and how she ‘magically appeared.’ You don’t have to be at the meeting to follow what is going on. Some people watch on TV and read all the minutes. And even if she did none of that, why not have a fresh set of eyes and ears? BTW, I didn’t see anyone else jumping in, willing to help, and subject themselves to undeserved abuse. Did YOU?”

“Thumbs up to the Pelham Aces! for those of

you that are not aware, this is an organization of concerned parents and grandparents who want to raise awareness about the issues (both good and bad) surrounding education in our town. They keep up on all the state and local education requirements, and most importantly, state funding! Their mission is to get the word out about what is best for our kids via fundraisers and provide scholarships when possible. Please do what you can to support this organization! I try to make the meetings whenever possible, but there are others who work diligently to support

education and our kids, and for that I am truly grateful to them. Thank you for what you do!”

“Thumbs up to the school board and the budget committee supporting the new Pre-K and Kindergarten! I think it is important to point out that, to the best of my knowledge, none of the school board or budget committee members have small children who will benefit from this Yes vote. They are voting for this because it is the best thing for our kids and the best thing for our town! What’s the old saying, ‘don’t cut off your nose to spite your face.’”

“Thumbs down. Here is to all the ‘thumbs

down’ to the people complaining about the school board, superintendent of schools and the selectmen in this town. How can the school district operate and compete with other districts if the voters in town are always voting down what the school district is trying to accomplish? They can only do so much with the funds they are given. So if you want to see progress change the way you vote. And when it comes to the selectmen people are always complaining about certain ones all the time but when it’s time to vote and make a change the same ones keep getting re-elected all the time. So again, change the way you vote.”
