Salem Gymnastics Continues Solid Performances


by David Jaracz The Salem High girls’ gymnastics team continued their strong performance on Friday with a narrow one-point victory in a tri-meet versus Exeter and Keene. The Blue Devils (15-2) finished with an overall score of 128.95, just ahead of Exeter’s 127.95. Keene finished third with 110.65. Kadie Tommasi continued her strong season, finishing second overall, including a personal-best 9.0 on the beam. She finished first in both the beam and floor routines. Sam Cloutier placed second in vault with an 8.45, and came in fourth overall with a score of 32.05. Sarah Hale had two fourth-place finishes with a 7.6 on the bars and 8.2 on the beam. Salem’s next meet is Senior Night on Thursday versus Souhegan, Hollis- Brookline, and Manchester Central. Results:

Girls’ Gymnastics Win Moves Them to States


by David Jaracz The Salem High girls’ gymnastics team closed a dominating 2010-2011 season with another


convincing win on Thursday, February 10. The Blue Devils won their meet versus Manchester Central, Souhegan, and Hollis-Brookline to end the season at 18-2, and have now set their sights on the New Hampshire State Championships this Saturday at Salem High School. The quad-meet saw the Blue Devils have three different first-place finishers, with Sam Cloutier (vault), Sarah Hale (bars), and Kadie Tomassi (floor), all winning individual events. Tomassi (32.65) took first overall while Cloutier (31.40) placed third overall. Salem placed first in the team standings with 127.5 points, Central came in close behind with 123.2, Souhegan was third with 99.3, and Hollis-Brookline was a distant fourth at 67.6. Salem High will be the focal point of New Hampshire high school gymnastics on Saturday, when the Blue Devils host the State Championships. The meet will be broken up into two sessions—the first starting at 9 a.m. and the second beginning at 1 p.m.
