THROUGH A CRACKED JAR by
Tesha Thompson, NCM Caribbean, Child Development Coordinator
When I saw the place where the child that I sponsor lives When I saw poverty dressed up and standing smiling
When I saw the dried coconut leaves used for the house’s ceiling I thought, “How could I not give?”
When I saw beautiful children, hope of today and tomorrow When I saw the desperation of families, so much sorrow
Energy suddenly left me like milk flowing through a cracked jar Poverty trying to leave an ugly scar on a community so grateful to NCM and the CDC Where their children can get to learn their ABCs
My eyes swelled up with tears As poverty lingers on, causing fears Tearing people down Children cry out without a sound Yet, I’m determined to help even more To encourage the world to give, give, give! So that children may get hope and live, live, live! This is for sure. n
