O2
– A Centre for Education, Innovation and Emergent Activities
Te O2 concept, of a centre for education, innovation and emergence, came into being in 2010 following the transfer of the Reykjavík University from Ofanleiti 2, a building of 8,000 m2 located centrally in Reykjavík, to its new and attractive premises at Vatnsmýri, which promise to fulfil the University’s future housing requirements. Te owner of the building, SVÍV (Self-Owning Institution of the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce for Business Education), laid down a new policy concerning the use of Ofanleiti 2, namely that the building would continue to be used for productive purposes and that a centre for education, innovation and emergent activities would be developed, with the chief aim of increasing knowledge and competitiveness within Icelandic industries.
THE ORIGINAL GOALS WERE PROMOTION OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND EMPLOYMENT BY OFFERING:
› varied possibilities for continued education; › support to the development of dynamic innovative and emergent companies;
› co-operation between the various groups and units for purposes including maximization of gains and contributions to society in the form of enterprises, valuables, jobs, and more capable people;
› activities supporting emergent and innovative companies and the development of new possibilities.
