STEPPING UP
When it comes to small dwellings that are lacking in fl oor space, sometimes fi nding enough room for suffi cient storage can be a real problem. One solution is to build vertically-oriented storage instead that use wall space instead of fl oor space. However, fl oor to ceiling storage presents its own problems as the top shelves are often out of reach. Dutch designer Danny Kuo came up with an innovative solution to address this problem when he designed a bookshelf that incorporates a pull-out staircase. The shelving unit is 2.6m high and the bottom three shelves can be extended to enable the user to reach the highest shelves. The unit is completely hand-made and can be customised in the preferred material and to the preferred size of the customer.

A SHOW
OF HANDS Meg is a line of unusual bathroom accessories with a funky edge by Italian sanitaryware manufacturer Galassia. The design is rooted in nature with soap dishes taking the form of an outstretched hand, toilet-paper holders modelled after a hand gripping a stick, whilst hooks and pulls become branches with a modern, whimsical appeal. Made from cool, clean white ceramic these contemporary
accessories will compliment any modern bathroom and will defi nitely provide a talking point for visiting guests.
