DERMOT CELEBRATES THREE DECADES OF PULLING PINTS

A

popular publican is celebrating his 65th birthday as well as 30 years of pulling pints

at the Hammer in Hand pub in Ganders Ash, Leavesden. Dermot Cribbin moved to Leavesden 33 years

ago with his wife and three children to live above and work in the Hammer in Hand, after running a pub in the East End of London. Dermot told My Abbots News: ―I have really

enjoyed working here and have had three lengthy spells at the Hammer since I moved to Leavesden. ―I have some great memories and stories from

the pub. There‘s a real variety of characters here and some true individuals.‖ Paul Johnson, leaseholder of the Hammer In

Hand, has known Dermot for three decades and said: ―Dermot is probably the best landlord in Hertfordshire, he does a great job at the Hammer.‖ Dermot, who is a keen golfer and racing fan, is

popular with the punters and known for his catchphrase ‗It‘s nice to be nice‘.

Dermot Cribbin has been serving punters at the Hammer in Hand for 30 years.

Dermot said: ―I‘m not planning on retiring yet,

as long as I‘ve got something to contribute I‘d like to carry on. My management techniques have not always been by the book, but things have worked.‖ Arsenal fan Dermot will turn 65 on 21

February and is planning a weekend of celebrations at the pub, with all welcome to attend. On Friday 18 February there will be live Irish music in the evening and on Sunday 20 there will be live 60s music from mid-afternoon.
