Last chance to see subsidised CFLs

After 31 March 2011 there will be no more subsidies for compact fluorescent lamps. The LA’s Energy Efficient Lamps Scheme (EELS) makes high quality Spiral and look-a-like shaped energy saving lamps available to independent retailers for as low as 16p (plus VAT) per lamp. So far more than 260,000 lamps have been supplied via the Lighting Association; the subsidy from E.ON has enabled the lamps to be sold at a massive discount while stocks last. More than 560 retailers have taken advantage of EELS and they can now establish a competitive edge with energy efficient lamps. A 20W spiral lamp has been introduced to the range. You can get the new 20W from only 46p per lamp.

The shades are a complex oval shape, as Les Allitt from Iberian Lighting explains: ‘These oval shades are possibly the most difficult shape we have ever been asked to make.’ Best says: ‘Iberian has beautifully translated the original visual concept into reality.’ Since making these Iberian has also produced similar although larger versions for the new Wagamama at North Greenwich near the O2.
