Paul E. Dechane Paul E. Dechane, 77, of Salem, died peacefully at his home on


January 29, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born in Boston, MA, grew up and was educated in Boston and Methuen, MA. He was a resident of Salem for the past 49 years. Mr. Dechane was a welder for Process Engineering on Plaistow


where he worked for 48 years. He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Lawrence, MA. He was active with the Galahad Boys Organization. He enjoyed puttering around the house, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Louise (Wermers) Dechane of


Salem; three sons, Paul Jr. and his wife Heather Dechane of Manchester, Peter Dechane of Salem, and Matthew and his wife Kathleen Dechane of Littleton, MA; three brothers, Edmund Dechane of Methuen, Timothy Dechane of Buffalo, NY; and David Dechane of England; one sister, Jeanne Checci of Tewksbury, MA; seven grandchildren, Victoria, Marissa, Emily, Darrin, Gregory, Brian, and Caroline; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held February 1 at Douglas and Johnson


Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.

William Andrew Perry


William Andrew Perry, 42, died on January 23, 2011, at his home. He was born in Brighton, MA, on November 24, 1968, but attended school and lived nearly his entire life in Salem. He is the Son of Patricia L. Deneault of Londonderry, and William A. Perry of Hampstead. He is survived by a sister and two brothers, Kimberly A. Vogel and Nathaniel B. Perry, both of Londonderry, and Daniel R. Perry of Portland, ME. He is also survived by his


grandmothers, Emily Hachey Haigh and Lena Nadeau Deneault; uncle, Robert J. Deneault; niece, Shayna Vogel; nephew, Estin Vogel; and various cousins. Bill enjoyed disassembling various items of machinery as a child, but his passion was for cars. He proved to be a gifted mechanic, which led to his long career as an auto mechanic. He could work on anything mechanical from trucks to cars to lawn mowers. He would often spend his personal time helping his friends and family, offering discounted auto repair services. Bill also enjoyed working with wood. He was a very talented musician, playing in various bands. Combining both interests, he expertly built his own, electric guitar to use in his art. He was a fisherman, liked hiking and the outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Bill may not have realized how many lives he has touched and will be missed by many. A memorial service was held February 1 at Goundrey and Dewhirst

Raymond A. Zadel


Raymond A. Zadel, 65, of Salem, died January 18, 2011, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Boston, MA.


He was born in Crest Hill, IL, grew up and attended


schools in Joliet, IL. He was a resident of Salem for the past 30 years. Mr. Zadel was a manager for Radio Shack in Seabrook. He also owned and operated Zadel Images & Sound in Salem. He was very active with the town


and Salem High School Media Center. He enjoyed working on cars and radio controlled airplanes. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Salem. He was also active with helping the AFJROTC at Salem High School.


He is survived by his wife Cheryl L. (Shaw) Zadel; son, Brandon Zadel; and daughter, Jennifer Zadel, all of Salem. Funeral services were private for the family and cremation took


place.

Richard J. ‘Dick’ Palmer Richard J. “Dick” Palmer, 67, of Salem, died


January 27, 2011, at his home. He was born in Everett, MA, grew up and was educated in Malden, MA, where he graduated from Malden High School. He later attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Mr. Palmer was a resident of Salem for the past 37 years, formerly of Woburn, MA. Mr. Palmer was a Director for Wang Labs in


Lowell, MA. He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem where he was very active as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Small Faith Prayer Group at the church. Mr. Palmer was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Peterson Assembly. He was a former Cub Master for Cub Pack 160 in Salem, and was a member of the White Mountain National Forest - Wild River Preservation. He loved the outdoors, especially canoeing in Maine. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Zachary) Palmer of Salem; three sons, Gregory and his wife Kim Palmer of Londonderry, Derek and his wife Kathy Palmer of Cape Cod, MA, and Ryan Palmer of San Diego, CA; two brothers, Don Palmer of Florida and David Palmer of Braintree, MA; three sisters, Virginia Mitchell of Stoughton, MA, Elizabeth Palmer of Revere, MA, and, Rosemary Palmer of Saugus, MA; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass was celebrated January 31 at Mary Queen of Peace

Eileen M. (Fredette) Bourque Eileen M. (Fredette) Bourque, 77, of Salem, died


January 28, 2011, at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA. She was born in Lawrence, MA, where she grew up and was educated at St. Anne’s School. She was a resident of Salem for the past 50 years. Mrs. Bourque was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Salem where she was a former choir member and a member of the


Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, cooking, baking, and shopping. She loved her black Pug, Frankie, and loved helping other people, but most of all she enjoyed spending time, traveling and cruising with her best friend and husband Joe. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Bourque of Salem;


two daughters, Cheryl Bourque of Hudson, and Linda and her husband Kevin Avery of Salisbury, MA; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Haley Avery. A Funeral Mass was celebrated February 1 at Saints Mary and Joseph

Theodore Wrobel


Theodore Wrobel, 96, of Salem, died January 26, 2011, at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton. Theodore was born and educated in Lawrence, MA, the son of the late Katherine and Michael Wrobel. He served in the Army during World War II and retired after 20 years of service. Theodore was a supervisor at the Sears Service Center in Lawrence. He enjoyed woodworking.


He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Laura (Zielinski) Wrobel.


He is survived by four daughters, Katherine and her husband James


Blanchette of Windham, Louise and Russell Boyd of Pelham, Joanne and her husband Vincent Larco of Salem, and Antoinette “Toni” and her husband Michael Buzzell of Brooklyn, NY; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
